“It all began when my results for Thanwya Amma came out. I got 100%, all around me were happy but for me? I was conflicted. I didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.” Amira El Husseiny shared.

In Egypt, we have this unspoken rule not to waste good grades, even if our passion doesn’t necessarily need that high of a grade. Like any Egyptian family, the parents dreams that their children to join prestigious faculties, SO, when Amira’s parents found that her result was 100% they forced her to join the faculty of pharmacy, although Amira dreamt of being a marketer and wanted to enroll into business faculty. “It was the worst 5 years of my college life; and since I didn’t want to be there anyway, this is my sixth year in the faculty of Pharmacy.” Added Amira.

Nevertheless Amira didn’t give up on her dream, she challenged her parents and beside her pharmaceutical studies she started taking business courses in Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania which is considered to be from the top 5 best business universities in the world. She also worked in the marketing department in “Domty Company”. Her plans for after graduation is to take MBA courses and continue working in the marketing department at “Domty”, until they recommend her to another company. She’s absolutely certain that in her future she will not be working in any field that’s pharmacy related “I am looking forward to continue working in Marketing and Public relations, because I’m strong enough to take my own decisions and I can do it.” ended Amira.
